Accessing the latest AI models via OpenRouter
When using OpenRouter as the translation provider, you can use any of their available AI models to perform the translation. The list of models is fetched dynamically from the OpenRouter API, and updated daily.
You must first provide the OpenRouter API key in the API Keys > OpenRouter API to dynamically fetch the list of models.
That means that you do not need to wait for Gato AI Translations for Polylang to release a new version containing the latest models. Translate your content using the latest iteration of your favorite model, the same day it is released!
Browsing the list of models
In the Settings, under Service Configuration > OpenRouter, the dropdown with the models is populated with model data from the OpenRouter API.
Gato AI Translations for Polylang has been tested with several of the major AI models available on OpenRouter, but not with all of them.
Notice that some models are well suited for translation, but others are not. Do your own tests to find out which model works best for your use case, and use it at your own risk.
You can also display information for the selected model, and filter the models in the dropdown, via links Show details and Show filters.
Showing the details of a model
Clicking on Show details will display all relevant information about the model, including the model name, description, price, context window, number of tokens, and more.
Filtering the list of models
Clicking on Show filters will display a form to filter the models by price, release date, and more.
For instance, filtering by recent models that are paid but not expensive will display the corresponding models only.
